Large Extension - Belfast
This was a commission to design a new two storey extension to an existing dwelling in Belfast. The brief was for a new family room/lounge, study and utility room and garage on the ground floor with a new master bedroom, with en-suite, and a laundry room on the first floor.
The site, although large, was restricted by the proximity of the existing dwelling to the boundary. Moreover a major constraint was a river culvert running diagonally across the site near the gable. The slight set back at the junction of the old and new, along with the added gable return and dormer window, creates interest to the front elevation. The new gable runs front to rear and allows the new garage roof to abut under the eaves.
