Nursing Home - Carrickfergus
The Nursing Home at Carrickfergus is the third project undertaken by ADP for the Primecare Group, but this time is a standalone home on a brown-field site.

Design
This is a sloping site on a corner location, falling considerably both away from the main approach direction and right to left. The more spacious site allowed a full H shape plan form and is a development from that of the Dunmurry home. The home again extends over three floors with the main residential accommodation on the ground and first floor level. The roof is a mansard style, similar to Dunmurry, to again allow the building to present a more domestic scale elevation in this prominent position. The kitchen and ancillary areas are restricted to one leg of the plan

form, on the lower ground floor level, and is accessed via a new road from the rear. An additional area of parking here has pedestrian access from within the site. Careful landscaping, along with the new path, helps to integrate the site levels into the existing landform. We have again tried to make best use of the sloping site and minimize under-building as far as possible. The main entrance is a similar form to the Ballygomartin and Dunmurry homes with large glazed areas and a full pitched and gabled roof.
